Diamond of Wisdom #2

definition of KARMA according to me: Be nice and humble, and nature won't turn against you.

This is what happened to the actor who I've mentioned from the beginning, the one with no allergies but is allergic to unwashed new clothes and who thinks he knows more than an Oscar winning sound professional-

After being an ass and talking down to the lovely script supervisor, this actor proceeded to get pooped on by a bird, then after ignoring the costumer designer and not wanting to wear the flip flops provided to him and instead went barefoot he stepped on a bee and was stung.

KARMA.....ain't it a bitch?

"Hey (director's name) I think you need to pop a breath mint, it's kind of really bad and I thought you should know."-Same clothes throwing actress

This was said in the midst of production right before shooting a scene, (which is fine right, someone should let him know but...)

"Oh (director's name), I'm sorry about telling you to freshen your breath in front of everyone, but you know it was really bad and you definitely needed to know........I mean I'd like to know if my breath was bad......I mean, but I would prefer it discreetly.........but............anyway your breath was BAD!" (laughs to herself and walks away as she pops some gum in her mouth)

This second telling of his bad breath was among everyone on the production again, while we were at lunch all waiting to get our food. Yeesh!

"I don't think the script calls for pajamas, I'm not suppose to wear them. I mean not for this scene. I mean yeah the character is out in her sleepwear at night spying on the neighbors but......I just...I just wouldn't wear pajamas out that's just not me."-Actress with the clothes throwing problem

So this was the argument the actress made on one of these many shoot days and it was also the reason she held up the production for an hour, on a friday night, on the last scene that needed to be shot for the day, after a 12 hour day. At the end of this hour she still wore what she was suppose to wear in the first place. Uhhhh...I mean hello you are not playing yourself you are playing a character, maybe just maybe that's what the character wears? I mean it's in the script, did you read it?

"Actors would be wise to listen to the costume designer because no one has thought about the characters more."-Very famous actor

So I know all these pearls of wisdom keep coming from actors. It's not that I have a personal vendetta against actors, actually some of my closest friends are actors they are just the very nice and humble ones. Also it just so happens that all these fabulous pearls just keep coming out of the mouths of actors on this particular film I'm assisting on.

So anyhoo, to try to balance out this heavy load of pearls, this is one huge diamond of wisdom that a very famous actor who I cannot name because the producer(who is normally a set costumer for well known films) who is working on this film told the costume designer this and I just don't ever want her to see this blog lol. But if you know me you can ask me in person and I'll tell you who it is.

Just wanted to balance out the bad pearls from the diamonds, and he's got a point. I mean we want to dress actors well it's what we do and if we don't do it well we probably won't get hired again. =)

Pearl of Wisdom #5

"I should act like a real bitch and start throwing clothes like really pushy actors. You should be happy I'm on this film because I'm not like those crazy people." (starts throwing clothes over dressing room wall and "pretending" to say she can't wear these things but keeps doing it for 5 garments all the while the costume designer has to pretend to think it's funny and catches the clothes.)

Um, I think we got the joke after the first garment toss, seems like you are being a pushy actor if you keep throwing stuff. I mean joke or not we still have to catch the clothes or pick them up if we can't catch them in time.

"It's probably just a leaf blower up the street I think we can continue shooting this scene and you can fix it later, so let's go!"-Same unnamed actor from before, to a seasoned sound guy

So I am working on a set with a few novice people but the sound designer and the director I might add know their stuff (since the director has won a few Oscars for sound) and when an annoying leaf blower down the street would come in and out we definitely needed to hold until they went away. But I guess the also seasoned but not so brilliant actor thought otherwise.

"You know I was trained in theater, they taught me how to respect wardrobe and costumers. You had to hang up your own costumes otherwise they'd be in the same condition the next day. I always hang up my wardrobe." -Actress that shall not be named

This was said after she left all her "costumes" on the floor of the set dressing room and I hung them up. She has since said this almost every day and has never hung up her costumes. I wonder where she was trained? Where did she learn that "hanging up" clothes means leaving them in piles on the floor.
